About Us - Coach Shaun Guest
Originally hailing from Concord, Shaun was first introduced to swimming
at the age of 8. After graduating from De La Salle High School in 2000,
he would spend the next two summers coaching for the same team he grew
up swimming for: the Walnut Country Stingrays.
In 2002, he turned down an offer to be head coach in order to focus on graduating from the University of California, Santa Cruz. In June 2005 he accomplished this goal, achieving two degrees in Biology and Health Sciences.
During his time at UC Santa Cruz, he also competed at the NCAA Division III collegiate swimming level for 3 years. Shaun's coaching background also extends to the US Sports Camps (sponsored by Nike), where he spent the 2003, 2004, and 2005 summers teaching swimming and water polo to children.
Shaun's latest endeavor started September 2005, whereupon he started coaching for Santa Cruz Masters, the UC Santa Cruz Swim Team, and the Fremont Hills Country Club. Thus far, it has been a fun and rewarding experience. Outside of the swimming realm, Shaun enjoys surfing, training for his next triathlon, reading, and exploring new places.
